Shifty Shellshock, lead singer of the rap-rock band “Crazy Town,” has died at 49 years old. He passed away at his home in Los Angeles on Monday, June 24, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner. Shellshock is survived by three children.
Shellshock, known for his time on “Celebrity Rehab,” faced personal struggles, including a 2012 arrest for cocaine possession and a coma that year, from which he recovered. TMZ reported incidents of driving under the influence in 2022 and 2023, leading to his arrest in Los Angeles in 2022.
Shellshock and rapper Bret ‘Epic’ Mazur formed “Crazy Town” in 1995. The band’s debut album, “The Gift of Game,” featuring the hit song “Butterfly,” was a major success in 2000. Despite subsequent challenges, including a hiatus in 2003, the band reunited in 2007 and released their third album, “The Brimstone Sluggers,” in 2015. In 2017, the band was renamed “Crazy Town X by Shellshock.”
Shellshock’s death marks the end of a musical journey that influenced many, despite the band’s ups and downs over the years.
