CM Punk’s WWE Return Timeline Officially Announced

WWE fans are in for a treat: CM Punk will be back in the ring during WWE’s holiday tour stop at Madison Square Garden on December 26. This marks his first WWE appearance since the October WWE Raw episode following his brutal Hell in a Cell match against Drew McIntyre at the “Bad Blood” event.

Punk and McIntyre’s Hell in a Cell match was the violent climax to their nearly year-long feud. Earlier this year, McIntyre defeated Punk at Summerslam, but Punk struck back, winning a Strap Match at Bash in Berlin. In October, the rivalry concluded with Punk’s victory over McIntyre in a bloody showdown inside the Hell in a Cell.

After that intense match, Punk took a step back from WWE to spend time with his family. In an emotional farewell to the fans on the episode following “Bad Blood,” he admitted he needed time to figure out his next steps and wasn’t sure if he’d be returning to the ring anytime soon.

The December 26 event will be a familiar setting for Punk. Last year, he made a surprise return at WWE Survivor Series in his hometown of Chicago, then went on to compete against Dominik Mysterio during the holiday tour, including a Madison Square Garden appearance. This match marked his first official WWE bout since his unexpected comeback.

In addition to his WWE accolades—including past reigns as WWE Champion, Intercontinental Champion, and Tag Team Champion—Punk also held the AEW World Championship. However, his AEW career came to an abrupt end following a backstage altercation with Jack Perry, after which he was released from the company. The fallout paved the way for his return to WWE.

Punk’s last televised WWE match was at the 2024 Royal Rumble, where he suffered a tricep injury, sidelining him for nearly eight months. Now fully recovered, fans are eagerly awaiting his return to the WWE stage later this year.
