Surprise Allies Come to the Rescue as Toga and Kurogiri Overwhelm Heroes in My Hero Academia Season 7, Episode 16

In My Hero Academia Season 7, Episode 16, titled “The Chain Thus Far,” which aired on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 5:30 pm JST, the battle takes a dramatic turn as Toga utilizes Twice’s quirk with Kurogiri’s assistance, deploying her doubles across all battle fronts. This shift in strategy significantly favors the villains.

The episode also paves the way for a pivotal showdown between Dabi and Endeavor, while Hawks engages AFO to prevent him from joining Shigaraki. Toga’s duplicates wreak havoc at the Sky in the Coffin site, neutralizing Monoma and his Erasure ability.

As Deku struggles against Shigaraki, who is now immune to Erasure, Skeptic takes advantage of the chaos by hacking U.A.’s systems. However, the tide begins to turn with the arrival of unexpected reinforcements: La Brava, Gentle Criminal, and Lady Nagant, who come to the heroes’ aid at a crucial juncture.

In the latest episode of My Hero Academia Season 7, titled “The Chain Thus Far,” the battle intensifies as Dabi and Toga arrive at the Gunga Villa site, setting the stage for a dramatic clash. The episode, which aired on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 5:30 pm JST, kicks off with Dabi and Toga joining the fray, revealing through a flashback that Dabi assisted Toga in acquiring Twice’s blood.

Toga’s Sad Man’s Parade unleashes a relentless wave of Twice’s doubles, overwhelming the heroes, while Dabi engulfs the battlefield in flames, cutting off any chance of escape. Ochako and Tsuyu, emerging from Kurogiri’s portal, attempt to engage Toga in a conversation about love, but Toga dismisses them, declaring that she is no longer a maiden in love. They then reunite with Tokoyami and Jiro, recognizing that stopping Toga is crucial for any hope of victory.

Meanwhile, Endeavor observes Dabi’s Phosphor and, concerned for his son Shoto, inquires about his well-being. Dabi reveals that Shoto was too strong for him, and despite not achieving all his dreams, he remains intent on taking away as much as possible from Endeavor.

As the chaos unfolds, AFO watches with satisfaction as the battle turns in his favor. He attempts to escape to join Shigaraki, but Hawks intercepts him, noting that Shigaraki and AFO are not yet fully synchronized. AFO grudgingly admits that Shigaraki is still incomplete and needs his assistance, prompting Hawks to advise Endeavor to focus on Dabi. As Dabi and Endeavor prepare for their impending battle, the divide-and-conquer strategy appears to falter.

At the Coffin in the Sky site, Toga’s doubles, transported via Kurogiri’s warp, disrupt Monoma and Aizawa, causing Monoma to lose his Erasure quirk and allowing Shigaraki to use his quirks again. The site suffers severe damage from a massive explosion, and Mandalay reports a hack of their systems, leading to the failure of the levitation system. Skeptic, who celebrates his successful breach of U.A.’s network, finds his triumph short-lived as La Brava intervenes. She reclaims control over the network and tracks down Skeptic, leading to his capture by the heroes.

With the levitation system in jeopardy, La Brava tries to reactivate it but struggles against the clock. Gentle Criminal arrives on the scene, using his air trampolines to stabilize the structure. A flashback reveals Gentle’s earlier act of redemption during a prison break, earning his chance to assist the heroes. Using his Gently Super-Lover move, Gentle prevents the Coffin site from crashing down, showcasing his unexpected alliance with the heroes.

As the episode draws to a close, Lady Nagant plays a pivotal role. Just as Deku is about to celebrate, Banjo warns him of Shigaraki’s impending movement. Immobilized by Gearshift’s backlash, Deku fears the worst, but Lady Nagant intervenes with a well-placed shot, severing Shigaraki’s arm and halting his advance.

Detective Tsukauchi reflects on All Might’s advice about understanding villains from a human perspective, noting how these villains have stepped up to help the heroes when hope seemed lost. The episode ends with a shot of Lady Nagant standing triumphantly on a rooftop, having delivered the decisive blow.
