Mark Henry Challenges Roman Reigns’ Claim as WWE’s Tribal Chief

This past Friday on SmackDown, Roman Reigns once again declared himself the “Tribal Chief” of WWE, asserting that WWE was his domain. However, WWE Hall of Famer and former World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry doesn’t see it that way.

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Henry questioned Reigns’ bold claim, citing his loss at *WrestleMania 40* to Cody Rhodes as a pivotal moment. Henry believes the WWE Universe has moved beyond the Reigns who once dominated the scene.

“I don’t think Roman has been paying attention,” Henry said. “Maybe he’s too focused on the ula fala [Samoan necklace] and his family, The Bloodline. But he can’t ignore the fact that Cody beat him,” Wrestling Inc. reported.

Henry expressed his disappointment with Reigns’ promo, where he once again dubbed himself the Tribal Chief of WWE. “He may be the Tribal Chief of his family, but if you’re not the champion, you’re not the Tribal Chief of WWE,” Henry added.

According to Henry, the true leader in WWE is Cody Rhodes—the current WWE Champion. Holding the top title, Rhodes, in Henry’s eyes, is the true “commander-in-chief” of WWE.

As of now, Roman Reigns has teamed up with Cody Rhodes to take on the formidable duo of Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu in a tag team match at Bad Blood on October 5, 2024. Though Reigns has dropped subtle hints about his desire to reclaim the WWE Championship, he has not openly addressed the title chase since returning to SummerSlam on August 3. At that event, Reigns attacked Solo Sikoa and, while leaving the ring, sent a clear message to Rhodes: “The WWE Championship belongs to me.”

Despite their rivalry, Rhodes hasn’t shown any inclination to directly challenge The Bloodline, even telling *SmackDown* GM that it wasn’t his problem. However, both Reigns and Rhodes joined forces to fend off Bloodline attacks on two separate occasions, leading to their current partnership.

With two fierce rivals joining forces against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at *Bad Blood*, the WWE Universe is eagerly waiting to see who will come out on top. Will Reigns regain his footing, or will Rhodes solidify his position as the true face of WWE? Stay tuned for what promises to be an explosive showdown.
