Following the recent introduction of the WWE Women’s United States Championship, there’s been speculation about whether another mid-card women’s title might soon be added for Raw.
On the November 8 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis unveiled the new Women’s United States Championship. Shortly after, commentator Michael Cole clarified that both Raw and SmackDown stars will be able to compete for this new title.
With this addition to SmackDown, fans began wondering if Raw could receive its own mid-card women’s title, especially since a report earlier in the year hinted at a possible Women’s Intercontinental Championship. However, according to a recent update from Fightful Select (subscription required), talent backstage at Raw has shared that there’s currently no discussion about a WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
Despite Raw stars being eligible for the Women’s U.S. Title, no Raw talents have yet made any promotional appearances or statements about this new championship. It also hasn’t been announced when the first Women’s U.S. Champion will be crowned.
Stay tuned with WrestleTalk for any further updates on the potential addition of a WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
