WWE Eyes Japan for Major Premium Live Event as Global Expansion Continues

WWE is pushing forward with its global expansion plans, and 2024 is shaping up to be a landmark year. In recent months, the company has hosted several memorable Premium Live Events (PLEs) outside the United States, including Money in the Bank in Canada, Bash in Berlin in Germany, and the Elimination Chamber in Australia. These international events have not only energized WWE’s global fanbase but also underscored the company’s commitment to reaching new audiences worldwide.

Japan: WWE’s Next Big Destination?

According to a recent report from WrestleVotes Radio, as featured on SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass, Japan is emerging as a strong contender for WWE’s next major PLE. Following a highly successful tour in the country, there’s growing excitement within WWE about bringing one of its marquee events to Japan.

An anonymous WWE source shared, “There’s a big push internally for the Japanese market. The last tour we had there was a success, and with so many Japanese stars on our roster, it feels like the perfect moment to dive into that market with something big.”

Japan has a storied wrestling history, making it a fitting stage for a WWE event. With talents like Shinsuke Nakamura, Iyo Sky, and Asuka already representing Japan on WWE’s roster, the country is a natural next step in WWE’s ongoing international expansion.

WWE’s international PLEs aren’t just about entertaining fans; they also bring significant financial benefits to host cities. Countries pay lucrative site fees to host these events, and in return, WWE brings in tourists, creates jobs, and gives a boost to the local economy. Japan’s rich wrestling culture and passionate fanbase make it an ideal partner for WWE’s next major event, especially with talks of potentially hosting a future Elimination Chamber in the country.

With Japan’s deep-rooted wrestling traditions and WWE’s growing global reach, this potential event could be a historic moment in the company’s continued international journey.
