WWE RAW and SmackDown Could Return to Three Hours

WWE fans may soon see a significant change in the programming length of both RAW and SmackDown. After RAW recently switched back to a two-hour format on USA Network, reports suggest the show could return to three hours starting in January.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, RAW’s Netflix debut on January 6 will reintroduce the three-hour runtime. Shortly after, SmackDown on USA Network is expected to follow suit, though further details on the change remain unclear. It’s not yet known whether the extended runtime for either show will be permanent or temporary.

Netflix Debut Plans

Johnson also mentioned that WWE is putting significant creative effort into the RAW premiere on Netflix. The company reportedly plans to make the event special, with discussions underway about potential surprise returns or major moments to mark the occasion.

Roman Reigns’ Role in the Netflix Premiere

Universal Champion Roman Reigns confirmed his involvement in the Netflix debut during an appearance on SI Media with Jimmy Traina. While his future schedule remains uncertain, Reigns assured fans that he’ll be present for the premiere.

“From what I’ve heard, that’s what people are saying,” Reigns shared. “I’m definitely on for the premiere, but beyond that, my schedule hasn’t been finalized. Right now, I’m just focused on making it to January 6.”

Reigns also hinted at the importance of the expanded partnership with Netflix, noting its financial and creative implications. “These are the kinds of challenges you want to have. When you’re in demand, you make it work, and it usually works out pretty well for me,” he added.

With the new year approaching, WWE seems to be gearing up for a big start to 2024. Fans can look forward to a packed lineup, with potentially game-changing announcements to follow.
